Just a passing thought
I'm back!Wednesday, March 15, 2006Listening to Freestylers - Boom blast
I've been pretty quiet on here for a while. I've just come back from a week on the mountain, my first time out boarding since breaking my foot last year! I have to say I was pretty nervous heading out there, I hadn't done anywhere near enough to get in shape for it, and I was going out with a friend who is a fitness nut and has already had one week out this season and two weeks more than me last season! So I knew it was going to be hard work keeping up.
The first day I bashed the crap out of myself, woke up the next day unable to move, but managed to drag myself back up the mountain and carry on. The weather was awful, you couldn't see a thing. We went out with our chalet host who took us up to one of the peaks then on a 10 minute hike along a ridge through waist deep powder, then as we were strapping in he says "make sure you don't go that way, there's a f**k off big cliff and you'll die". So we went off the other way and I quickly found myself lodged in a tree, the others disappeared off while I scrabbled out of the branches, being laughed at for 5 minutes by some guy sat off a few metres away. My only comfort was watching a skier disappear down a hole upside down (because the trees catch the snow, beneath them there is often a hole that goes down to the ground about two metres below the snow).
The first 3 days was mostly that kind of thing (plus lots of wind burn on my face). Then the sun came out and I saw the mountains for the first time! (lots of sun burn on the wind burn) It started to get fun then, we found some great off piste powder fields and spent a lot of time weaving around the trees. Spent the last day in the snow park and had my first ever go on a half pipe! :-D
I now have the most absurd tan lines on my face.
Sorry, this isn't tranny related in the slightest and is probably quite boring for most of you but I just felt like typing it!
