I, not robotFriday, January 27, 2006Listening to nothing

I've just read on the beeb that sony have closed their entire robotics department! The Aibo is no more! I've wanted one of those things since they first launched them, I've been saving up for ages! Now they're not going to make any more and the second hand price of them will shoot up. Read the article here.

Change EtiquetteThursday, January 26, 2006Listening to Quantum Leap
You're in the shop buying some bread and milk, and you hand over your money, and you're due 6p in change. Then the till does something wrong, and the woman sighs, do you just stand there and wait for your change? Do you ever get the feeling that the people behind you are looking at you as if that 6p is all you have to live on for the next week? Like it's that important that you have to stand there and wait? Maybe I'm just a bit neurotic.
Perhaps there is a formula though for how long you should wait based on the amount of money you're waiting for, I think a second for every penny probably works, or maybe a bit less than a second.

Well, time is money... and money is power... and knowlege is power... so money is knowlege... and money is the root of all evil...
So yeah, er, about a penny a second. - April Angell:

Quantum LeapWednesday, January 25, 2006Listening to Editors - Lights
ITV3 have been re-running Quantum Leap at 6 every night. I hadn't rescanned my Digital TV since they launched ITV3 until last night (that just sums up how I feel about ITV!). One of my earliest tranny related memories has to be the episode where Sam jumped into the body of Samantha, an attractive blonde secretary, and has to deal with sexual harrassment and even some leching from Al. I've checked what episode is on tonight and found an episode guide online and that one would have been on last Wednesday! :'(
There is one next Tuesday where he jumps into the body of a mother of 3,but that's no kind of fantasy is it! Unless someone has a fetish for dressing badly and doing lots of housework. Statement Retracted

I got it. :-)
Do you remember the one where he jumped into the body of a beauty queen? Ahh... memories. :) - Jessica:
- no! have you got that too? can I borrow? :) can you remember what its called? it might be on soon
- Jessica:
- by my calculations it's on Feb 21st! Miss Deep South. I think I remember it, he turns up at the hotel near the start walking like a man.
- April Angell:

Maybe I'm being over sensitive. Still Quantum Leap is great, even though its really of its time. But because of that it can be excused its views, including the two stereotypes you illustrated in your post.
A more interesting episode would be where Sam jumps into the body of a transvestite. Did that ever happen? Probably too much of a headfuck for those days...

June Sarpong can not climb stairsTuesday, January 24, 2006Listening to oranges
According to Chris Moyles, and also confirmed by Andi Peters, June Sarpong of T4 can not climb stairs. The more I know about that woman the more I dislike her.

Seriously confused: Chris Moyles, Andi Peters and June Sarpong mean absolutely nothing to me!! (No, I've not been living under a rock, I've been living in France... Pretty much the same effect, just with more wine!)
Still, I want to know: How on earth can someone not climb stairs? - Jessica:
- If you saw her, you'd understand, she can barely stand up!
- Becky EnVérité:
- Maybe she's beeb coated with anti-climb paint.
- Sophie Green:
-
I think the actual statement was June Sarpong doesn't 'do' stairs.
I think she is equipped to get up them in an emergency, or fall down them if pushed quite hard. - Jessica:
- That doesn't escape the fact that she is an idiot
- Kat:
- Can't or won't? Is this like a never been taught to walk or just a lazy prima donna starlet thing?

Warning: Computer type talk inside! I've just written my first user script for greasemonkey (a cool extension for firefox that lets you install little scripts that extend your fave websites) The one I've written basically monitors typing into text boxes and looks out for preset names, like 'jessica', and turns them into links to those peoples blogs! If you want to try it yourself go and install greasemonkey then install my script, reload the page then look under Tools>UserScript Commands>Edit Friends Name, add in your friends and their websites, save, then go fill in some comments or whatever. You can control what sites it's applied to in the greasemonkey settings, it runs on all by default.

Hmmm, let's see if this works...
I was just over at Becky's blog and noticed that Siobhan had basically slammed her for trying to convince the masses that ASP is better than PHP. Not wanting to get into an argument (although I'm sure Emily would agree with Siobhan), I hopped on over to my Bloglines where I saw that Jessica had written a Greasemonkey extension.
Well, it works!! Sweet! Thanks! - Victoria Fox:

Birthday night outSunday, January 22, 2006Listening to Breathe - Telepopmusik
Shannon and the Sophies came up to Liverpool for the weekend for Shannons birthday. I can't remember the last time I had a proper night out on the Liverpool gay scene (going to Superstar Boudoir with 10 colleagues on the office night out doesn't count!). We started off in the Lisbon which is pretty much how it always was, hot and crowded, but compared to anything on the derby scene it was wonderful! Then we went to Navy which I've been in once, it opened a couple of years ago but I still count it as "new". The derby crowd thought it was great, and I felt a little bit of pride for my gay scene. We bumped into Carmen and a friend of hers in there, I haven't seen her since the summer!
We had a few drinks in the Navy, nipped round the the cash machine then into Superstar Boudoir, and once we'd all given the manager a kiss at the door we got a free round of vod'bulls! We found our usual seat in the corner and sat there chatting till we were ready to go home. Not a lot of dancing or anything like that (maybe we're all getting too old for that, or maybe it was just the shoes) but we had a good time and I'm glad I've shown my face on the scene so they don't forget me.
Some pics are in the gallery, (I didn't make it out in those shoes!)

Someone posted this link in a comment just below, it's a whole range of stainless steel heels! Just look at that little strap going across your toes, imagine that digging in at the end of the night. You could buy them as a present for someone you don't like and sharpen the edges :)

Sexy ShoesThursday, January 19, 2006Listening to
These were a present from a friend of mine. I'm planning on wearing them out on saturday, I can't even walk around the house in them! I think I need some double sided tape to old them on, but they're still very high and a bit unstable (I wonder if anyone has invented foldup crutches that fit in your hand bag?) They're going to look great though! :)

Sophie Blogs!Thursday, January 19, 2006Listening to The Arcade Fire - Wake Up
My girlfriend (:-D) the lovely Sophie Green has finally started to use her blog a bit, at least to put some pics up and stuff, so go and have a look. If you happen to click on the adverts while you're there she gets paid for it! She's not allowed to tell you that though (against google rules), but I am!

Genocide?Monday, January 16, 2006Listening to
There's an article on the BBC about a road sign in wales that told pedestrians to look right in English, and to look left in Welsh. Was it really just a mistake, or a subtle attempt to get all the welsh run over?

Blog GeekeryWednesday, January 11, 2006Listening to Mylo - Valley Of The Dolls
It's taken me ages to figure out the best way of doing this (that didn't involve any boring programming!). I wanted to make an rss feed of my comments available, mainly so I can keep an eye on it, but also so others could subscribe too, and keep an eye on whats going on here. The best way is to set up a google group, invite only etc (only one person will ever join) add the no-reply@blogger.com address, then send all your blogger comments to it. Then there is a whole range of feed types you can get off it! So here is my comments feed.
I went through setting up a gmail account to try and use the feed from that, which was rubbish. I tried email to rss gateways, they were all rubbish, I even setup another blog and sent the comments from one to the blogging address of the other, but blogger blocked the emails!!
This thing is getting too geeky, I should post some tranny stuff... later

Going undercoverMonday, January 09, 2006Listening to Sigur Ros - Takk
This is my latest toy, a tiny spy camera :) It's actually a bullet cam for mounting on my helmet or snowboard (shown next to a 50 pence coin), it connects to my camcorder which stays wrapped up warm in my backpack, and I've got a wired remote to turn the camera on and off. I'll road test it at the snowdome soon. Can't wait to take it on the mountain, should get some great footage!

Fook Mi! That's GoodFriday, January 06, 2006Listening to Sigur Rós - Með Blóðnasir
Remember Fook Mi and Fook Yu from Austin Powers? I found this great website of a girl who makes her own costumes. She made this Fook Mi costume, it's amazing! :) I don't think it's for sale though :( I think I might be asking for a sewing machine for my birthday, I was always pretty good at that kind of stuff at school, it's time I started learning how to make clothes properly and coming up with some great outfits!

Knock them offFriday, January 06, 2006Listening to nuffin
I'm backing the campaign to get Transformation off the top spot for Google searches with the Anti-Transformation Google Bomb!
The idea is to "Google Bomb" the Wikipedia entry for transvestite with links labeled simply with the word "transvestite". Google should hopefully see all the links for that word pointing to Wikipedia and count it as a more authoritative source of information. We're not sure how many links it will take, although a conservative estimate is 30.
If you have a blog or a web site, and you support the campaign, please copy and paste the code in the box below into your blog. You'll be doing trannies of the UK and around the world a favour!
If you'd like to use this entire message in your own blog to help promote the Google-Bomb, you can download it here.

Merry New YearTuesday, January 03, 2006Listening to Gogol Bordello - Oh No
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! and all that, did anyone miss me? I spent my Christmas with my girlfriend Sophie in Derby, which was lovely! I got a Volcom hat which will look pretty cool when I'm flying down the halfpipe in Switzerland in March, and Transformers the movie on DVD which I've watched about 3 times now, (and I just realised I left it at Sophs). I also got a pretty sexy looking little digital camera which I used to take this pic at our sort of 80s themed new years party! (Even though I look more 60s than 80s) Check the gallery for a few more photos!
